such a nice and sunny day today. what a rarity these days. it just makes the view outside so much nicer, and everything outside my window looks so bright and cheery. and since my estate has many palm trees, it just gives it a tropical resort feel! but unfortunately, i am sick and i can't play tennis. such a pity.
-insert- i think i should spend my next weekend all couped up at home. the reason why i'm sick (though i think i am better now!), and so tired during sch is tt my whole weekend is just a mad rush from point to point. next weekend, i shall read a book (i have 5 at my bedside!), play my new games (i bought 3 xbox 360 games this week..), watch the US Open and of course read my textbook, and play some tennis. yes, basically, i need some time to REST!!
so anyway, this was from a long way back. maybe a month ago? its SINGFEST! this is a concert, which brings together multiple artists for an extended concert. in this cases it lasted from 3pm -1230am!!
we spent a good 12hours there, seeing tt we were kiasu and went early to queue up.. :pit was really sweltering hot at fort canning hill. the venue had no trees for some bizarre reason.
after 3h of waiting in the heat, we finally got to see the first act - Stacie Orrico. well, she was not bad, just tt i hardly knew any of her songs, except you know the 'Stuck on You' and 'There's Gotta be More to Life'. but yeah, she sang pretty well, and it was somewhat entertaining.. :)
next up was an artist from england. Jamie something i think, can't quite remember. when u are watching him, its pretty entertaining, but now a month later, i must say i can't quite remember anything about the performance anymore.. :/
next up, a huge fan favorite, One Republic. eh, i dunno what happened to the picture of their front man, i am pretty sure i uploaded it. yup, other than their 2 hit singles, Stop and Stare and Apologize, i didn't really know the other songs.. but yeah, they were pretty awesome.
i like this guy's shirt - its shows a funky picture of obama, and it says, "Progress". totally agree.
oh yeah, met joel and his girlfriend on the grounds!
it was damn bloody hot.. but as you can see, the sun has began to set. much to everyone's relief! but the humidity caused by 10000 people cramped in a really small space was certainly still very overwhelming.
i dunno what happened to my photos of Panic at the Disco, but they were a delight to watch! even though they had a mike malfunction, they continued to sing bravely. their performance was absolutely full of energy and excitment, really infectious!and finally, the person i had been waiting for - JASON MRAZ!! and boy, he didn't disappoint. i felt his perfomance was definitely top 2, either him of Alicia had the best performance of the night. He was so interactive and engaging, and his songs were brought alive through the clever use of the various instruments. it was so good, it was better than his album recording! fantastic stuff.
and it helped tt i've listened to his album quite a few times i recognize all of the songs. haha.
the most memorable song was probably I'm Yours. yes, everyone just burst into the song when he started singing. but a pity he didn't sing "Lucky".. would've been great to hear him perform tt sweet lil number. the other crowd pleaser which everyone knew was "The Remedy" of course :) sing it! "I~~~~~, I won't worry my life away, ayyyy ohhh~~~~!!!" x2 :)))
after jason, was some oldies singer, richard or richie something.. he sang many good old mambo tunes, which i actually recognized! but he is seriously so old, he really had the guts to come out and perform for such a young crowd! but the crowd was quite amusing, some actually gave him bras.. he got quite a few. haha. damn amusing!
after tt little breather, came pussy cat dolls. not a tremendous fan of them, well cuz i feel tt they can't really sing live, but seemingly, everyone else was so into them! well, they sure put up a good performance, with their v well rehearsed dance routines, and great presentation. but really, nothing much musically there. definitely no comparison to alicia or jason.. :pbut yes, definitely, the hottest performers on stage. they looked spanking good, and yeah, just oozing sexiness. and apparently they'll head back here to perform! so we shall see what happens.
to close the show, was the one and only alicia keys. arguably the most accomplished of them all. had it been anyone else, i doubt the crowd would've stayed till 1230am on a sunday.
and she really made it into her mini concert. whilst most singers sang 5-8 songs, she did about 15 i reckon! but they were fabulous. her musical talent is evident from what she does, what she sings and the instruments she plays. the way she improvises, the way she tries to vary what we hear so it doesn't sound the same as the album version, its phenomenal :)yes, and she was definitely feeling v hot. dripping in sweat! haha
but really, a smashing close to a wonderful event. the highlight for me has probably gotta be not using the toilet from 9am to 1230am. i was dying.......................... i felt like my kidneys were dilating and i was feeling dizzy and slightly nauseous. i dunno what possessed me not to have left for the toilet. i think it was just the insanely long queues and the crazy crowd everywhere. so tt's tt.. haha.
